FOUNDER'S MESSAGE

Dear Reader:

Welcome!

It is hard to believe that I am in my sixties. Why only a short time ago my wife and I were starting a family and launching our careers. What happened?

Sound familiar?

This is why the Over60Exchange was created. Most of us have been going full speed ahead without much thought to growing old. Now that we are here, we are finding that we are not alone. As a matter of fact it is starting to get pretty crowded and it is "clear as mud" where our future as aging citizens is going to take us. The Over60Exchange is here to provide some clarity and a firm foundation for all of us going forward.

Added to the mix of living life, we are also facing the harsh reality of economic changes that will affect all but the very wealthiest of us. These challenges are causing 67% of us to reconsider retirement by looking for ways of staying in or re-entering the work force. This is not a bad thing and truthfully it could be very good for most of us.
 
So that you know, I am an eternal optimist. I believe in tomorrow and in the prospect that the future will always be better than the past. However, I am also a realist and know that many people now entering their fifties, sixties and older are facing higher expenses and much lower incomes. I know that many who were counting on home equity for retirement no longer have it
and that many who had good retirement accounts in savings and 401K's, no longer have that either. Some in our group are facing bankruptcy and cannot believe that it is happening at a time in life when living should be getting easier not harder. I could go on with a long list of other critical challenges but prefer instead to look at what actions can be done today to minimize or eliminate the above problems.

Much of the burden for figuring out what to do will fall on our own backs leading to another reason why the Over60Exchange was created. The Over60Exchange is a big tool with lots of powerful options to help us make changes and take actions to stay on the right path for our older years. If you are age fifty to one hundred, there is something here for you. Life is not easy especially when so much is happening in such a short period of time. But, let me assure you that you are not alone. There are millions of us facing the same challenges you are facing. Yet, it is within this same group of others just like you where the best solutions for the future may exist. By working together, we can share collective experiences and ideas for overcoming challenges while at the same time developing new personal strategies for achieving success.
