O.K. maybe it's over an interstate or through an air port to Grandmother's and Grandfather's house they go, how exciting! If you don't see your granddarlings often, your house might not be kid proof. Here are a few things to consider while getting ready for the holidays:

**Move all cleaning products and other harmful chemicals way up high.

**Secure all doors leading outside, especially if you have a pool. Most

doors leading to a pool deck are sliding; buy an inexpensive

tension curtain rod you can simply fit and slide in to place.

**Got toddlers or crawlers? Next time you are out, get a pack of plugs

to insert into electrical sockets.

**Naturally you will be cooking, remember to turn the pot handles

towards the back of the stove.

**Remove your pretty fragile nic-nacs and replace with holiday

decorations the kids can play with..say small stuffed Santas,

his reindeer, snowmen, that sort of thing,

**Poinsettias are beautiful, and toxic to small children and pets. If you

simply must have a real one, put it in a safe place.

**When decorating your tree, you might want to place the glass

ornaments out of the reach of little ones.

**Your 4 legged baby may not be use to excited children. A few days

before their arrival move bedding, bowls, litter box, etc. in to a room

where you can close the door so they can have some peace on earth.

**The adults want to catch up, so buy holiday activity books, crayons,

board games, age appropriate crafts, rent or record holiday

movies and/or shows that they will enjoy.

**Be very mindful of where you place candles.

**Don't forget to get batteries. They are never included!

**Plan time just for you and the granddarlings. So what if something

needs dusting, enjoy the moment.

**If the children are old enough, get each one a disposable camera.

After the holidays, get the photos developed and send each a scrap

book. What a great way to remember your time together.

Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa, we at the

Over60Exchange wish you and yours a joyous holiday.
